Members of the Tahunanui Bowling Club were surveying the damage caused to its synthetic bowling green by a car fleeing from police early this morning.
It is understood the police chase started in Nelson city before the driver of the car veered off from Tahunanui Drive and crashed through a fence before ending up on the green of the bowling club.
The synthetic green was laid in 2010.
Police have yet to make a statement on the crash.
