(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

That is the Bryan Adams song that Matt and Lucy Newberry chose for the first dance at their wedding in 2004.

Fifteen years on and the Stoke couple are hoping to recreate that same magic moment at Trafalgar Park when Bryan Adams plays there this Saturday night.

“Well, I might get up and dance if he plays it, but I don’t know if Matt would,” laughs Lucy.

“He might if he’s had a few beers.”

The childhood sweethearts have known each other since they were babies. Now in their 40s, they describe themselves as “huge” fans of the Canadian rocker.

“We’ve always loved him, he was massive in our day – a real legend,” Lucy says.

“We chose his song for our first wedding dance because of the lovely words, but all his songs are great.”

And like any other busy parents, they are looking forward to a well-deserved night out.

“It’s going to be great.”

This weekend’s show marks the first time the multi-platinum recording artist has played in Nelson and rounds up of a huge summer of music in the region.

Adams will come armed with a career spanning over four decades and a signature brand of feel-good rock n roll hits, including Reckless, Heaven, Summer of ’69 and Run to You.

This tour celebrates the release of his upcoming album, ‘Shine A Light’, his 14th studio album and is being promoted by Neptune Entertainment who brought both Bay Dreams and UB40 to Nelson this summer.

He will be supported by kiwi legends Dave Dobbyn and the Jordan Luck Band at his Nelson show and will also be making stops in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Bryan Adams is playing this Saturday, 16 March at Trafalgar Park. Tickets are still available from www.theticketfairy.com
