Growing mos for a good cause

The Chevron, horseshoe and a simple beardstache are all making appearances at CLM this month in pursuit of men’s health.

CLM’s ‘Mo Bro’s are a team of 15 men from the organisation who have united in the pursuit of the ultimate moustache to raise awareness and funds for Movember NZ, which tackles men’s health issues – from cancer to mental health.

The team will host a Movember Breakfast and Charity Auction this Friday morning at Greenmeadows Community Centre with guest speakers Tyson Hullena, Chris Jack and Paul Hampton.

Mo Bro, Dave McKenzie, says this year has been tough on everyone which makes it all the more important for the community to rally around each other.

“Some people are just battling through and the more help we can provide for the people that need it will be good.”

Trafalgar Centre manager Mark Mekalick says the awareness is just as important as the funds raised.

“Yes, it’s great to be able to fundraise and make some money for a great cause, but also to create that awareness to get checked out if things are going wrong and speak up if you’re not ok.”

Mark says the team’s wives are “not too impressed” with the range of facial hair but understand it’s for a good cause.

They hope to raise $5000 through the event. For donations or ticket enquiries contact [email protected]
