Isel Twilight Market returns

Isel Park’s Twilight Market is returning tonight after a winter hiatus.

The free-entry market will begin tonight at 4.30pm and will continue every Thursday through the summer, weather permitting.

Market founder and organiser Jo McCrostie says community support has been instrumental in continuing the markets amidst event cancellations in Nelson.

Covid-19 alert levels meant that its reopening was delayed a week.

“People have been so supportive, the community has really been keen to see it go ahead,” says Jo.

Up to 70 food and craft stalls will surround Isel House during the market’s busier periods, with live music and seating areas set up.

Jo says the lawn space will be great for those wanting to social distance and says people often bring their own chairs and blankets, sometimes with a bottle of wine.

Jo founded the market five years ago and it remains as the city’s only regular night market.

“It’s a great space. There’s something there for everybody, for all ages.”
