‘Maskateers’ come to the rescue

The Tahunanui Community Hub is humming with the sound of sewing machines as experienced creators go about making masks for those in need.

“We thought it was something that we should do,” says centre manager Mark French.

They put out the call to people who knew their way around a sewing machine and, before long, there was a dedicated team at work.

Mark calls them the “Maskateers”.

The masks, which have been suggested by the Ministry of Health to help combat the spread of Covid-19, are available from the centre for a donation.

You can drop in to 55/61 Muritai Street, Tahunanui, or message their Facebook page to find out how to get your own mask.
