In a bid to curb the number of discarded cats and kittens the Nelson SPCA is running a subsidised de-sexing and microchip campaign.
A queue from the counter to the carpark of customers waiting to book greeted SPCA staff the morning after they announced the campaign.
Nelson SPCA’s Donna Walzl says the idea is to help people who are struggling with desexing their pets to encourage them to do it.
Donna stresses there are a few conditions to be eligible for the subsidy.
“Please ring up and see what they are, unfortunately not available to everyone. We are asking for a community services card but if there are people out there with a genuine need please do approach us and we’ll see what we can do.”
