Quality builds recognised nationally

Homes in Nelson and Tasman have been named best in the country at the 2019 Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition.

A development of eight highend, architecturally-designed, two and three-bedroom units on Nayland Rd and a new-build in Kakano Lane, Richmond, have each taken out national category awards.

More than 330 properties from across New Zealand were entered into the regional rounds of the competition and InHaus Developments Ltd director Russell Campbell says winning the New Home $600-750k category for their Kakano Lane build is great recognition for the staff, builders and sub traders.

“This is our sixth award, so it shows we have been maintaining that building standard.”

Judges said the home was “exceptionally designed” and great design features made the home “a cut above the ordinary”.

“The builder should be congratulated for an incredible quality of workmanship that has been achieved in all aspects of the build,” the judges said.

Russell says it’s a credit to his young team.

“I’ve got four great young builders who are achieving higher levels year in and year out. It’s a pretty good effort for a little Nelson business,” Russell says.

A town house development on Nayland Rd, built by Scott Construction, also claimed the title of Master Build 10-Year Guarantee Multi Apartments/ Duplexes/Terraces National award winner.

Judges said the “standout project” showed good planning on a site that had been used to its maximum potential.

“Each townhouse has been created with a sensible choice of contrasting materials requiring minimal ongoing maintenance.”

They say the well-constructed and presented creation had made this a standout project.
