The inaugural ‘Jingle Bells at Greenmeadows’ is coming to town on Sunday, 8 December.

Entertainment will be brought to you by Nelson City Brass, the Nelson Jazz Band and the Celtic Pipe Band with one hour of dedicated Christmas carols.

There will be family activities, food carts and a kids’ zone. The big man in red will also be making an appearance for photos.

Head organiser and Isel Market founder, Jo McCrostie, says it felt like the right time to create a big Christmas event for Stoke.

“For the past two years we’ve had Christmas carols at the market, and it’s been very well supported. So much so, that we’ve had too many people for the space.”

She says the community has “really embraced” the idea.

“People are really getting behind it. We’re doing it all on a shoestring so we’re really thankful to all the sponsors that have come onboard.”

Jo says, if it’s successful, they hope to make it an annual event.

“If we get it right, it’s only going to grow. It’s a nice place to kick off Christmas. I think it’s going to be a winner.”

Jingle Bells at Greenmeadows is on Sunday, 8 December from 4 – 8pm. Cancelled if raining.
