New market for Tahuna

A new boutique market is starting up in the heart of Tahuna next month – just in time for Christmas.

The ‘Tahuna Gift market’ will be held every Saturday afternoon from 1 – 4pm in the Harley’s Pharmacy carpark from 7 December.

Jewellery, essential oils, artwork, candles, crafts, food, produce and good quality second-hand goods will be on offer with 16 rotating stalls each week.

Founder Rachel Greig, who runs the Rose and Luna jewellery studio in Tahuna, says she is hoping to fill a void in the suburb’s shopping offerings.

“I wanted to create an alternative destination for weekend shoppers that would showcase a diverse, creative and collaborative local marketplace. I hope it will be well supported.”

She says the name for the market was inspired by her father, who was lost at sea when she was seven years old.

“Obviously it needed Tahuna in the name and probably market – then we thought our father’s initials were TGM, so Tahuna Gift Market it was.”

Rachel says they are still looking for more stall holders to be part of the market.
