The third annual ‘Rally Against Breast Cancer’ family day will take place next Sunday, October 28.

Sponsored by Kelly Bowater Travel, the sessions, called ‘cardio tennis’, will run on courts at nine tennis clubs around the region.

Nelson Bays Tennis Association regional coordinator Ali McQuillan says they decided to get behind families in this region by supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation in raising funds that will go toward research into new targeted treatments, life-saving awareness and education programmes.

“We hope to let families know that they can take part in Cardio Tennis sessions that are full of fun at a pace dictated by themselves, with a group of likeminded people, while raising funds for a worthwhile cause.”

Ali emphasises that no knowledge of tennis is required, and all genders and ages can take part. “It’s for the whole family.”

‘Kelly Bowater Travel Rally Against Breast Cancer’ is run for an hour by club coaches, using rackets and balls in group situations that work on getting your heart rate elevated by moving and tracking a ball in different situations on court.
