Fashion, a movie and plenty of goodies are set to go down a treat later this month at the Suter Art Gallery – all for a good cause.
Morrison Square’s annual fundraiser for the Nelson Regional Breast and Gynaecological Trust is coming up on Wednesday, 31 October.
Appropriately named ‘Fashion at the Flicks’, a $50 ticket will get you a fashion show, drinks, canapes, a charity auction, a “fantastic” goodie bag (valued at around $150), as well as a movie.
“The movie is a secret for now … and there will be a lot of surprises,” says manager of Morrison Square, Angela Leonard.
Now in its third year, the proceeds from the event will go towards helping gynaecological and breast cancer patients in Nelson.
The last two years’ events made a combined $50,000 which went towards a sentinel node probe for Nelson Hospital, exercise and education classes and to those who need financial help.
“Our goal this year is to raise $20,000,” says Angela. “We’re doing something a bit different this time – each year we try to up the ante. It’s a good night to get the girls together.”
All Morrison Square stores are participating, as well as Shine on Hardy St.
Angela says tickets are selling fast, with only 50 left out of 150, and plenty of local businesses have contributed.
“Nelson has really come to the party – it’s great to see so many local businesses supporting us.”
Fashion at the Flicks will be held on Wednesday, 31 October, from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at the Suter Art Gallery.
Tickets can be purchased from Morrison Square Centre Management Office (above Morri St Cafe).
