Cathedral to animal house

Mammals of all kinds flocked to Nelson’s Christ Church Cathedral for the annual ‘Pet Service’ on Sunday.

Around 100 dogs, cats, rabbits and one lone guinea pig were all accompanied by their owners to the service, lead by Dean Michael Hawke.

Hymns and prayers all shared an animal theme with a blessing of pets and their owners rounding off the service.

SPCA rescue dog Jessie clearly enjoyed the service with owner Nigel by her side. Nigel normally attends Sunday services and says it was just a nice chance to bring Jessie along.
