Laundry mix up leaves Giants topless

The Nelson Giants were forced to commit the ultimate fashion sin and repeat outfits two nights in a row on the weekend.

The team is still on the hunt for their away strip after another team accidentally picked them up from Alsco Laundry last week.

General manager Bill Dalberg says the full set of the team’s white away kit is still unaccounted for after originally being discovered missing just hours before their home clash against the Southland Sharks.

“If there is a rugby or football team out there with a rather tallish-looking set of uniforms without sleeves, we would appreciate them back.”

With the Giants playing a double header on the weekend, their home strips went in the wash late on Friday to be cleaned and on the plane for the following night’s fixture against the Canterbury Rams in Christchurch.

The side sported plain white t-shirts during their weekend warm-ups, their training tops also taken.

“The question is, do you let it distract you or do you bounce back? Things like this are just another piece of the challenge. The boys played extremely well the next day, so I couldn’t be any prouder.”
