The Kelly Bowater Travel Rally Against Cancer event was set to take place at seven different clubs around the region, however rain put a stop to things in Wakapuaka, Motueka and Golden Bay.

In its second year, the event saw an hour-long exercise session on court to help highlight the importance of exercise for mental and physical wellbeing, and to raise money for Breast Cancer.

Nelson Bays Tennis Association regional coordinator, Ali McQuillan, says they were thrilled with the event and were pleased to see a great number of men and children coming out to support the cause, too.

Richmond, Nelson, Hope and Mapua clubs averaged around 30 participants each on the day, together raising around $1000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wakapuaka club has rescheduled for Sunday, November 12, at 10am.
