With December just days away it’s a busy time of year for Santa Claus, but he’s managed to find plenty of time for our region.

On Sunday, Santa visited Richmond for its annual parade and this Sunday he’s due to land in Nelson. The Nelson Santa Parade has undergone a few changes this year, including a new route and direction.

The parade will now start at Trafalgar Park at 12 noon and make its way up Trafalgar St, turn into Hardy St and finish at Morrison Square.

Organiser Huup Wagen says there will be around 30 floats in this year’s parade and is urging people to come along and enjoy the festivities.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a nice sunny day and people have a great time in Morrison Square after the parade, at the Christmas Carnival.”

Huup says it’s still not too late to enter a float in the parade, with two $500 cash prizes up for grabs for the most creative entry and the float with the most participants.
