Garage sale to boost Nelson Women’s Centre

Books, clothes, toys and more will be up for grabs this weekend at the Nelson Women’s Centre’s fundraising garage sale.

The ‘Grand Garage Sale and Book Fair’ is on this Saturday from 9am – 1pm at the centre, which is on Trafalgar St.

Communications assistant Laura Findlay says it will be the second time they have run a garage sale as a fundraising event.

“This is a pivotal fundraiser for us. The money raised will contribute to the upkeep of our wonderful drop-in centre, which includes our private garden, women’s library, kitchen space and other facilities that are free for all women in Nelson to use.”

The centre is still welcoming good quality goods for the sale – including books, clothing, jewellery, sports goods, toys and household goods.

People can drop them off at the centre at 44 Trafalgar St (next to Trafalgar Park), by Friday, 17 November.

“Men, women and children, we encourage all people to pop down and find out about the centre, grab a bargain or a piece of treasure and have a relaxing morning in our community space – all while supporting the centre,” says Laura.

“It will be in our lovely garden , so if the sun is out there will be plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy some sunshine while browsing the stalls.”

She says the centre is hoping for a “vibrant morning of activity” with a great turn-out from locals keen to support the centre.
