Shaane Fulton earns silver at Oceania Track Cycling Championships.

Waimea College’s Shaane Fulton has started her Oceania Track Cycling campaign with a silver medal in the junior women’s team sprint. in Melbourne.

The New Zealand combination of Shaane and Sophie Leigh-Bloxham finished the 500m velodrome discipline just 0.40 seconds behind eventual winners Australia.

Shaane says she was delighted with the improved effort in the medal ride.

“The team sprint went pretty well, in the qualifying round there were a few things we needed to scrub up on for the final.

“Definitely had a way better ride in the final, much smoother, just way better on a whole.

“Knowing that we had fixed those things from this morning and we left it all out there made us super happy, especially to do it in 35.8 seconds only 0.40 behind the Aussies.”

Shaane will race in the kerin today and the sprint racing tomorrow.
