Ali Forsyth strikes gold at World Bowls Chanpionships

Nelson lawn bowler Ali Forsyth has skipped his New Zealand men’s fours team to a gold medal at the World Bowls Championships in Christchurch this afternoon.

The Kiwi team of Mike Nagy, Mike Kernaghan, Blake Signal and Forsyth dominated the final against Australia at the Burnside Bowling Club and eventually won 23-4.

New Zealand won 11 of the last 12 ends after trailing 3-2.

It could be a golden weekend for Nelson bowlers with Shannon McIlroy going for gold in the men’s singles and Jo Edwards in the final of the women’s pairs Angela Boyd.

Both finals will be live on Sky tomorrow afternoon.
