Metservice have placed another severe weather watch over northwest Nelson and Buller.
The watch forecasts heavy rain for several areas from Buller to Waitomo, and the Kaikoura Coast to Wellington.
“A large, complex area of low pressure lies over New Zealand, moving slowly eastwards today and during Thursday. On its northern flank, a front will bring a burst of heavy rain to Buller and northwest Nelson.
“During Thursday, cold southerlies will spread up the east coast, bringing rain and southerly gales to Kaikoura Coast, Marlborough and Wellington.”
The watch predicts the likelihood of rainfall accumulations of 50mm in 6 hours, or 65mm in 12 hours in Northwest Nelson and Buller during this afternoon and early evening.
