Metservice have issued a severe weather warning predicting periods of heavy rain around central New Zealand, including Nelson and Buller.
“A slow moving front lying across central New Zealand is expected to bring periods of rain overnight Thursday and during Friday.
“This rain is likely to be heavy at times over the upper South Island, the lower North Island and also about Taranaki.”
Nelson is predicted to receive heavy rainfall that could exceed warning amounts from overnight Thursday till Friday night, and possibly into Saturday.
While Buller are forecasted heavy rain from late Friday morning, during the remainder of Friday and possibly into Saturday.
Metservice are predicting the heaviest rain to hit the Tararua Range where a warning is in force.
