The teenager who talked his way into a Toi Toi home by asking to use the bathroom before sexually assaulting the occupant has been arrested.

At approximately 3:40pm on Friday, the male teenager indecently assaulted a Toi Toi woman, and stole items from the property before leaving on foot.

A day later, police posted on their Facebook page, asking for the public’s help to identify the teen who was described as a slim, clean shaven  Maori or Pacific Islander with short dark hair and bleach blonde tips.

The next day they received a phone call from a member of the public who disclosed the offender’s identity and that day he was arrested.

“The male was arrested on Sunday 9 October and appeared in the Youth Court the following day where he was charged with burglary and indecent assault,” says a police spokesperson.

“The male was remanded in custody and will appear in the Youth Court again on 9 November.”

Police will not name the teenager but say they are grateful for the public’s help in identifying and locating him.
