Nelson’s first senior cricket team for the season announced

Nelson cricket’s three contracted Central Districts players Marty Kain, Greg Hay and Josh Clarkson have all been named in the first Nelson senior team for the year.

Coach Aldin Smith along with fellow selectors Garry MacDonald and  Ryan Edwards are pleased to announce the Nelson Pine men’s senior team (Griffins) for the Chapple Cup in Napier from October 14 to 16.

The team will be captained by Marty with Josh and Greg also set to play key roles

New Zealand  Under- 19 player Felix Murray, Central Districts A player Sam Baxendine and Central Districts Under-19  player Adam Leonard.

New players to the Griffins team are Dan Hooper, Nelson College players Alistair King and Thomas Zohrab.

Players unavailable for selection were Daniel Grimes and Matt Marquet.

Aldin is pleased with the team and has been working hard with the players over the past 4 weeks since arriving in Nelson.

Aldin is excited by the talent  available and is keen to see the players playing.

Nelson were runners-up to Manawatu last year in the 50-over competition which sees all the minor associations of Central Districts competing against each other in a tournament format.
