Voting deadline looms


Voting papers are still being mailed across the region as the 2016 local elections creep closer.

Four candidates are standing for mayor in Nelson while three stand for the same position in Tasman.

In Nelson, 28 candidates are vying for one of the 12 councillor positions with 15 standing for the District Health Board.

While over in Tasman, eight candidates are running for the Richmond ward, five for the Motueka ward, seven for the Moutere Waimea ward, six for the Golden Bay Ward and Stuart Gordon Bryant is a shoe in for the Lakes Murchison ward as he is running unopposed.

For your vote to count, your voting slip must be received by noon on Saturday, October 8, just over two weeks away.

Votes can be handed in to Nelson City Council/Tasman District Council or posted in the provided freepost envelope no later than Wednesday, October 5.
