We can now confirm that an 83-year-old male has been taken to hospital after being hit by an unladen logging truck in Brightwater this afternoon.
The incident occurred at the entrance way to Brightwater Motors on Ellis Street at 3pm today.
Acting senior sergeant Brett Currie says the man was walking from another vehicle across the petrol station forecourt when he was hit by the truck while it was pulling out of the petrol station.
Bret says the man “was in a very serious condition” when he left in an ambulance.
The serious crash investigation unit are on site and are being aided by seven police units.
Ellis St is down to one lane and the area has been cordoned off.
