Extra funds for Stoke Community Centre approved

Nelson City Council has approved an additional $350,000 to enable the Stoke Community Centre at Greenmeadows to progress to the next stage.

The motion to increase the budget passed 12 votes to one at Thursday’s full council meeting, with councillor Pete Rainey being the only one to oppose it.

The project can now move to the next stage, which includes progressing with storm water improvements for the Greenmeadows area prior to construction starting on the new facility which will be home to Stoke Seniors, Stoke Rugby Club, Stoke Tennis Club and Nelson Cricket.
