UPDATE: Body found in boat

Tasman Police are continuing their scene examination at Queen Elizabeth II Drive in Nelson following the discovery of a man’s body on a boat earlier today.

The body was found at 10.45am this morning, police are treating the death as suspicious.

Officers are expected to be at the scene, opposite the skate park on QEII Drive, for the next couple of days.

Police have already had some positive leads from the public but would still like to hear from anyone who may have information that could help the investigation.

“State Highway 6, or QEII Drive, is the main route in and out of Nelson and popular with commuters,” said Detective Inspector Paul Borrell.

“Lots of people would have driven past the scene and we’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area overnight or this morning.”
