Fa’avae to speak at pool fundraiser

Four-time world champion adventure racer Nathan Fa’avae will be the guest speaker at a fundraising event at the Mapua Community Hall this Wednesday.

Nathan will be talking about his team’s epic win in the Adventure Racing World Championships in Brazil earlier this year which he described as “like racing in a National Geographic documentary”.  All proceeds from the evening will be going to the Tasman Community Pool project.

There will also be a silent auction for some stunning outdoor images and an auction for a range of outdoor activities around the Nelson-Tasman region.

The Tasman Community Pool project aims to build a 25m pool at the Tasman School to be used by the whole community. It will be used for swimming classes during school, community access outside school hours and during school holidays, and life saving skills and swim squad training. It will also feature a shallow toddler pool.

Tickets to Wednesday’s fundraiser cost $20 and can be purchased at the Tasman School, Tasman Store, Mapua Country Store and Torpedo 7 in Nelson with online bookings at [email protected]. The fundraiser will be held from 7pm to 9pm with coffee and cakes available.
