Bellsie runner up in national dog-at-work comp

Bellsie may be blind but her owner Sarah Benge reckons she helps her see things more clearly at work.

Bellsie has been coming to work with Sarah ever since she was born and, in times of stress, Sarah says it’s Bellsie that puts things in perspective.

“You might be trying to figure something out and getting frustrated, but then you see her and say ‘oh, you’re so cute’ and it takes the stress away. Then you get back to your task with a clearer focus.”

Bellsie’s presence in the workplace doesn’t just help Sarah in her job as director for Benge & Co Greengrocers, it has also won her some prizes as part of the New Zealand’s Top Office Dog competition.

A Jack Russell from Tauranga took the top prize over 63 other dogs, with Bellsie the runner-up. Jane Kennelly, founder of Frog Recruitment – the organiser of the annual competition, says there are many benefits of bringing a dog to work.
