Waimea OB upset Stoke to make rugby top four

Waimea Old Boys grabbed fourth spot in the Nelson Bays division one rugby competition after they won their winner-take-all match against Stoke 22-18 at Greenmeadows today.

Waimea Old Boys scored two second half tries to open up a 22-11 gap after a tightly fought first half.

A late Stoke try gave the home fans hope, but a knock-on deep into injury time on the Waimea Old Boys 22, saw the visitors earn the win and leapfrog them into fourth.

Wanderers await Waimea Old Boys, with the top qualifiers being comfortably beaten 35-19 by Nelson.

Marist await Nelson, with the boys in green downing Kahurangi 48-38.

In division two: Collingwood beat Takaka 43-12, Waimea Old Boys downed Stoke 17-5, Marist edged Huia 30-24, Nelson were too strong for Wanderers 24-12 and Riwaka thrashed Rangers 53-12.

Collingwood will host Huia and WOB will welcome Riwaka in their semifinals.
