Whakatu’s Riding for the Disabled Association is celebrating with a birthday party this Wednesday.
But it wont be any ordinary party, with feed and carrot cakes for the 10 guests of honour.
All horses in the southern hemisphere celebrate their birthdays on the first day of August and for the fourth year, the Whakatu RDA are opening their gates for a party to celebrate their horses.
The party falls in the middle of RDA awareness week and, with food for both human and horse, is open to the horses, riders and the public from 10.30am at the Whakatu RDA.
President Bex Deva is really looking forward to the birthday celebrations.
“We’re going to introduce them all and basically give them a birthday cake,” says Bex.
“It’s a great chance to show everyone what we do and celebrate the horses with the riders and the rest of the community
