Two local Nelson bands and soloists are through to the next stage of Smokefree Rockquest 2016.

Golden Bay High School’s unique band The Hoard are joining Tetra from Nelson College for Girls in the band section whilst Garin College’s extremely talented Kieran O’Connor and Cam Dawson have made the cut in the solo/duo section.

The musicians will have to survive another cut by a panel of industry judges to make it to the national final.

On August 1, the final five bands and three solo-duos will be announced.

These acts will get the chance to play off at the Raye Freedman Centre on Saturday, September 24.

Whilst the 22 acts not in the final selection will become contenders for the People’s Choice, with the winner of the voting campaign competing as the ninth act in the national final.
