The fourth of July may not be particularly significant to Kiwis but for those who love American muscle cars, it’s the perfect opportunity to get their pride and joy out of the shed.
Organised by the Nelson City Rod and Custom Club, today’s Independence Day Cruise will take participants from their starting point at Club Waimea, out towards Upper Moutere, before they head to Brightwater Motor Inn via Mt Heslington Rd for lunch.
“It’s just a good excuse to get the cars out,” says event organiser, Barry Hefford. “Because being the middle of winter there’s not generally a lot on.”
The Independence Day Cruise will also raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
