Wanderers edge Marist in senior rugby


Wanderers tamed high flying Marist 27-24 in Nelson Bays division one rugby today.

One week after dismantling Waimea Old Boys’48-0 Marist were on the wrong end of the score today despite a tight tussle.

Waimea Old Boys’Club Day was not enough to stop Nelson enjoying themselves at Jubilee Park.

The Tasman Trophy winners heaped more tough times on Waimea with a 53-3 victory.

Despite some good defence for the first half an hour, Waimea were eventually outgunned and they now haven’t scored a try for more than 160 minutes of game time.

Stoke made home advantage count with a 36-29 win over Kahurangi.

In Nelson Bays division two; Riwaka thrashed Tapawera/Murchison 53-0, Huia and Stoke drew 17-17, Waimea Old Boys’downed Nelson 40-22, Wanderers and Marist drew 19-19 and Takaka edged Rangers 32-31
