A woman bitten by a dog while delivering mail in the Tasman District requires surgery.
Emergency services were called to a property in Takaka at about 2.45pm on Tuesday, after reports a woman had been attacked by a dog.
Police said she had been delivering pamphlets at the time.
The victim was flown to Hutt Hospital, where she is due to have surgery.
Animal Control is investigating the attack.
