Dennis Gibbs has announced his intention to stand as a councillor for the Richmond Ward of the Tasman District Council.
“As a born and bred Nelsonian involved in many community groups I have a good understanding of how our local community works. Over the years I have developed sound communication, strategic planning and organisational skills which I believe are essential around the council table,” Dennis says.
“I’m now semi- retired from the teaching profession including some years as Deputy Principal at Waimea Intermediate and as a reviewer of schools for the Education Review Office. Periodically I still work as an educational consultant within selected schools across the Tasman district”.
“You could describe me as an eclectic egalitarian who stands for a fair deal for those who contribute to, benefit from and work and pay for community infrastructure and operations”
Dennis will be known to many in the Richmond area for his work with the annual Waimea College student exchange with Richmond’s Friendly Japanese Town, Fujimi machi.
“I’d really welcome the opportunity to serve my community as a Tasman district councillor”.
