Video: March for Moko

Hundreds of Nelsonians took to the streets on Sunday in a shroud of sadness and anger.

The March for Moko movement was sparked by the national outrage following the manslaughter sentence of the carers of abused toddler Moko Rangitoheriri and Nelson rose with the rest of the country to take a stand against child abuse.

Covered in blue ribbons and paint, local parents and kids gathered at the top of Trafalgar Street in remembrance of Moko and the 12 other children who died from child abuse last year.

Meeting at the 1903 Square for a series of speeches, the crowd then marched around the block before placing flowers on the Cathedral Steps.
