Natureland trustee puts hand up for spot on council

Natureland’s Mike Rutledge has announced he is standing for council in this year’s local elections.

The executive of the Tahuna Business Association, who grew up in Redwood Valley, says he is passionate about Nelson being a great place to live, and can bring vibrancy, youth, as well as experience, to the council table.

Before becoming a trustee of the Natureland Wildlife Trust two-and-a-half years ago, Mike was the Tui Brand Manager at DB Breweries, and helped develop their well-known ‘Catch a Million’ and ‘Beer Plumber’ promotions.

When asked his opinion on the controversial Southern Link, he says that “it is the logical solution to Nelson’s traffic problem.”

Mike says he wants to represent both Tahuna and Stoke, where he currently lives.

“I’ve got some good experience behind me at a commercial level and I have a lot to give – I’m passionate about Nelson and I am here for the long haul.”
