A head coach for the region’s new National League football team has been announced.

Richard Anderson, currently working with Cook Island football, will be head coach for NelsonPine LVL Tasman United, with local Davor Tavich as his assistant.

Richard has an “A” level Uefa qualification , a Master’s degree in Sports Science, extensive experience at academy and elite development in the UK with such clubs as Crawley Town, Nott’s County, Nottingham Forest and Aldershot. Currently Richard resides in the Cook Islands where he is Head of elite development and assistant international coach.

Richard will be assisted by Davor Tavich. Davor is well known in Nelson and Marlborough as previous Head coach of the National Youth League side, former Suburbs Mainland coach and current coach of Nelson College First XI who are reigning national champions.

“We are delighted with the appointment,” says NelsonPine LVL Tasman United board member Paul Brockie.

“ Everyone is onboard to raise Top of the South Football to professional levels, including both coaches, this is the most exciting time I can remember for Football since we won the Chatham cup.
We think Richard brings something fresh and elite to New Zealand football and we all know Davor’s pedigree. Between them we have a fantastic complimentary team that is going to give us the best chance of competing at the highest level now and far into the future.”

Anderson will relocate to Nelson after his current contract finishes in July but has already begun video analysis of the current league whilst both he and Tavich have commenced discussions on the squad to start the search for players.
