Learning from the wreckage

The Civil Aviation Authority will be sifting through the wreckage in it’s annual Nelson AvKiwi Safety Seminar to Nelson.

The message this year is What happened here? Sifting the lessons from the wreckage.

Former UK airline pilot, and 2016 AvKiwi presenter, Clare Ferguson says the seminar will use animation, real-time video, and interviews with the major players.

“We’ve re-created six incidents and accidents to demonstrate the sort of decision-making that can save lives and aircraft. And the sort of decision-making that doesn’t.

“There’s a saying in aviation, ‘Learn from the mistakes of others. You won’t live long enough to make them all yourself’. This is a great opportunity for Nelson pilots to do just that.”

The seminar is to be held at Nelson Aero Club on Monday, May 2 at 7 pm.
