If you’re travelling across the Cook Strait anytime soon you may want to go prepared.
MetService has issued a gale force warning this afternoon, forecasting Northerly winds of 30 knots, rising to 40 knots on Friday morning.
The sea is predicted to become very rough with a southerly swell of one metre at times.
Saturday evening will have an easing 25 knots which will dip to 15 knot southerly winds on Sunday and pick up once more to 40 knots late Monday.
