The victim of a house explosion in Stoke last week is still undergoing treatment to fix his injuries, according to his brother, but his condition is improving.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to hospital by St John ambulance after the explosion at his Tennyson Crescent house on December 28. In the original article, nelsonlive.co.nz included some speculative comments from neighbours at the scene. These comments shouldn’t have been included and we apologise to the family for any further pain this may have caused.

Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.

The man’s brother says he is doing “better than he was”.

“He’s in theatre today getting his wounds cleaned and on Tuesday he will be getting some skin grafts.”
