Rural water restrictions lifted

As a result of recent steady rain, Nelson City Council has lifted the water restrictions that had been in place for residents who take their water directly from streams and wells.

River levels in these areas are now above the minimum flows but still low. Council will continue to monitor these streams and if no further significant rain falls, it may be necessary to restrict water takes again at a later date.

Residents are thanked for their cooperation to date and are reminded of the need to always use water wisely and conserve this precious resource whenever possible.
