With all the fuss over the flag debate, there’s one that’s surfaced out of the pack that whets the appetite.
The brainchild of Nelson graphic designer, Tony Downing from Downing Creative Marketing, the Kiwifruit and Koru flag is not only edible but has been designed to raise awareness for KidsCan.
It comes in the form of a Christmas card that he’s been sending out to clients. Inside is the small Kiwifruit and Koru flag made from edible dye on sugar-based paper.
“I want us all to put our money where our mouth is and secure a flag that we can stomach this Christmas,” says Tony. “The concept is tongue-in-cheek but with a serious message about trying to alleviate hunger and poverty issues for kiwi children.”
Tony is encouraging people to join New Zealand’s Edible Flag movement on Facebook to follow its progress.
A Givealittle page has been set up (givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/edibleflag) and all proceeds will go to KidsCan.
