A Sherlock Vision drone was shot down during the Speedway fireworks on October 31.
The drone was recording footage from the event when it was shot several times. Operators Elias Mansson and Jonathan Lopardo managed to land the drone safely and away from the public despite having no working instruments and a broken propeller blade.
Fortunately, none of the 4,000 people attending the speedway were hurt, but Nelson Speedway Association President, Wayne Martin says the incident was an act of “stupidity and recklessness.”
The final sequence of the attached video shows the fireworks display, this was the last thing the drone saw.
The drone was shot from behind, once the drone was hit, the camera broke. Look for the wee jolt to the left before the video feed cuts out.
