Throwback Thursday: Broadgreen Historic House

Broadgreen Historic House was first built in 1855 by Edmund Buxton.

While he had a thriving business in town selling “everything from firearms to sausage skins”, it is said he much preferred spending time on his house, farm, and gardens with his wife and six daughters.

The cottage is one of Nelson’s oldest residential buildings, and will be on display in the annual Broadgreen Rose Day on Sunday.

The free family-friendly event will run between 11 am and 3 pm with a variety of live music, entertainment, pony rides, food and craft stalls, the Stoke Fire Service and more.
