Throwback Thursday: Anzac Park

We’ve all driven past it or wandered along it’s paths, but Anzac Park has changed dramatically since it was dedicated to the fallen soldiers following the end of World War One in 1914.

Many of the parks iconic Canary Island palms remain, but 1954 saw the park’s landscape change drastically when storm water drains were installed and a new design was implemented.

In 2011, the Waharoa, the remembrance monument pictured in our modern photograph, was erected to pay tribute to the members of the 28th Maori Battalion who have passed away.
