Waimea Intermediate on the Christchurch earthquakes

At 9.15 this morning, 677 Waimea Intermediate students took part in Shake Out, an international earthquake drill that aims to prepare people in the case of an earthquake.

New Zealand joined the Shake Out initiative after the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes with 1.34 million participants in the first kiwi Shake Out.

Several of Waimea Intermediate’s Shake Out students and staff were in the earthquakes that shook Christchurch and share what it was like to be in a real earthquake.
