Power cut fixed just before All Blacks game

Linemen at Network Tasman prevented a potential disaster on Sunday after power was cut to 580 customers in Stoke and Richmond at 1.30am, just hours before the Rugby World Cup semifinal between the All Blacks and South Africa.

Network Tasman chief executive Wayne Mackey says line patrol staff responded to outage quickly and power was back on by 2.30am. A second power cut to 500 customers in Richmond on Sunday afternoon was caused by a car hitting a power pole on Ranzau Rd.
