Nayland Pools to open this Saturday

Nayland Pools will be reopening their doors this Saturday, the first time the outdoor swimming complex has opened in October.

Facility manager Dave McKenzie says there have been significant improvements to the pools over the winter by the facility owners Nelson City Council. They include more showers installed, wooden decks replaced, more lawn laid and the installation of some new lounge chairs.

Last year was the busiest year on record for the pools with warm weather seeing people flock to the pools. Dave says, with the summer forecast expected to be even warmer, they’re bracing for an even bigger season. “The pools just get more popular, it’s safe, clean and after a swim you can grab an ice cream or have a shower. It’s a great facility.”

After opening this weekend the pools will stay open until mid-March next year.
