It has been confirmed that during their New Zeland tour, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will indeed grace Nelson’s shores.
The itinerary for Charles and Camilla’s Kiwi visit was released this morning.
The 12-day tour begins in Wellington on November 4 and includes Dunedin, Nelson, Ngaruawahia, New Plymouth and Auckland.
Further dates and details are yet to be confirmed and it is unclear what their Nelson visit will involve.
Rumours include a trip to the waterfront, a vineyard tour, a wine and food event at the Boathouse and a wander around the Saturday market.
This is Charles’ ninth visit to New Zealand, after which, he and Camilla will continue through to Australia. There, the Prince will celebrate his 67th birthday on November 14.
Prime Minister John Keys says he is delighted to welcome them both back to New Zealand.
“I’m sure New Zealanders will be excited to hear that Their Royal Highnesses are returning, providing another opportunity to meet members of the royal family here in New Zealand.”
